Morena: A shocking incident of violence amid the raging pandemic has been reported from Madhya Pradesh. Dozens of masked miscreants went on a rampage firing guns indiscriminately on the streets of Morena town.

The incident took place last Sunday at Bankhandi Road area under Kotwali police station amid the lockdown in the state. A woman suffered a head injury in the incident.

Police said they have now filed a case against the unidentified miscreants after a complaint by the injured woman, according to a report in NDTV online.

"We have arrested some of the miscreants and we are taking action against those who are involved. Nobody is above the law, we will take appropriate action against whosoever is responsible," the report quoted Dr Raisingh Narwaria, Additional SP.

According to police, the incident was the fallout of a similar act of violence by another community over an 'objectionable' social media post.

The woman, who was injured in the violent incident, was on her way to see a doctor. The woman of the husband said, "My wife saw the masked men on the motorcycles and before she could look for safety, she got injured in the head as the miscreants indulged in indiscriminate firing. They also damaged vehicles in the locality."

Madhya Pradesh is under 'Janta curfew' till May 15 in view of the raging second coronavirus wave. What was shocking was that the violence comes amid the "strict" lockdown imposed by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan earlier this week.

"To break the chain of transmission of the coronavirus in Madhya Pradesh, we have to completely shut everything till May 15," said the CM.
